Throughout my training, I’ve had the privilege of learning from diverse clinical experiences that have shaped who I am as a developing doctor. This page brings together reflections on key placements, projects, and moments that have strengthened my clinical skills, deepened my understanding of patient-centred care, and guided my professional growth.
Each reflection captures lessons learned about medicine, teamwork, leadership, cultural awareness and the responsibilities we hold as future doctors. I share these insights not only to demonstrate my development, but also to highlight the values I will carry into my medical practice
A reflection on my time and learning as a medical student

A reflection on my six-week elective at Oceanside Orthopaedics, where I deepened my upper limb surgical knowledge, gained hands-on examination experience, and explored the future of 3D-printed surgical tools

A reflection on leading my first scoping review as principal author, exploring the barriers to implementing 3D-printed bone scaffolds in Australia and developing my skills in research, writing, and collaboration

A reflection on how practising long cases strengthened my clinical reasoning, patient assessment, and presentation skills under expert guidance

A reflection on the importance of culturally safe care and trust-building, shaped by my placement at an Aboriginal community-controlled health service.

A reflection on the inclusive and respectful leadership I observed in general medicine, and how it inspires the kind of doctor and leader I aim to become.

Over the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from Dr Philip Ewart and the team at Hastings Medical Centre in Wauchope. This blog reflects on how these GP placements shaped my skills, broadened my understanding of community healthcare, and strengthened my clinical confidence.
